Here comes Friday

And speaking of Friday, Hayırlı Cumalar everyone!

Cuma günü or on Friday, Muslims perform the Friday (noon) prayer or cuma namazı after listening and reflecting on the Friday speech / cuma hutbesi / or in Arabic, خطبة الجمعة (hutbet eljuma). Indeed, it is a day of worship and a chance to reflect and spread gratitude.

Performing prayer, and making Dua/asking God are two different things. Although both are two kinds of worship. Let's learn together the differences and yet the similarities between Namaz/Salat and Dua/Saying a prayer in both Turkce, English, and Arabic:

bir hanim "dua" yapmak.- Sultan Ahmet Cami - Istanbul

namaz vakti Ayup Cami - Istanbul

Dua

prayer times - namaz vakti - أوقات الصلاة (Awkaat Asalaah)

Hayırlı Cumalar, Have a blessed Friday! جمعة مباركة

To buyrun or not to buyrun...

Well, I have always admired the word " buyrun " it has such elegance, must I justify more? :)

the interesting thing though that it is difficult to find an exact word that can be a synonym to the word "buyrun" in English. However, the other interesting part, which I really enjoy saying whenever am in Italy is "Prego" ! that's right, Prego = Buyrun ladies and gentlemen. And in Arabic it would mean ( Tafadal  تفضل ) S. form, and ( tafadalo تفضلو ) plural form. Of course when directing the world to a female it would automatically be ( tafadaly تفضلي ).

So ladies and gentlemen Hoş geldiniz

Aman!

So the week flew buy ve it's the weekend bir daha!

Indeed there is plenty to do, plenty to see ...Istanbul has yet another thrilling week that is filled either with new exciting modern art international exhibitions, or even award winning artists hosted in Istanbul Modern ( a dutch art photography exhibition  ). Yet just recently, film "Fetih 1453" was just released in the Turkish cinemas, about of course the great Muslim young leader Mehmet Fetih. I wouldn't dare to miss it If I were you ;)

The film trailer is eye catching alone and it really shows the efforts and great budget that was invested well to bring about this movie.  Here is the film trailer with English Subtitles:

Hatice Sultanı's soooo "London Town" accent!

Sürpriz sürpriz! I've got some scoop!

In a recent television interview, Sümbül Ağa ( otherwise actor Selim Bayraktar who's playing this role ) surprised his international fans when he surprisingly enough, spoke Arabic nicely! However the biggest surprise was when the beautiful actress Selma Ergeç, who's playing the role of the Sultan beloved sister, Hatice Sultanı, spoke English in an ever so "London Town" accent. dare to watch?

Tabii, I am speaking about number 1 Television show in Turkeye,  "Muhteşem Yüzyıl" or otherwise known in English as "The Great Century" or "Hareem AlSultan" in Arabic.

The cast, directors, and all the crew members were interviewed last month in the set of the show filmed in the famous  "Topkapı" palace by DubaiTV , which is a well established Arabic Television channel that airs the same show with Arabic dublaj in the Middle East.
What's surprising! Some of the cast members spoke in English, Arabic, while other cast members choose to speak only in Turkish. watch the complete interview at the following link with English subtitles.

And I will leave you with some interesting snapshots from the interview. The interview was conducted by the beautiful tv presenter Diala Makki at Mashaheer.

Makara Bakara ! Ya

Kuzey İngilizce konuşuyor, Ali speaks "Sunday" ?!?

Kuzey Güney is number 2 most watched Turkish Drama after Muhteşem Yüzyıl, aired every Wednesday on Kanal D.

In Episode 17. Kuzey & Ali started working on the “Makara”station, when suddenly the German investors came to the location, and started speaking in English. Kuzey spoke English nicely. And Ali strangely enough, started speaking "Sunday"?

It was a humorous moment, though Kuzey managed to remember a lot of English words.

Oyle, Kuzey İngilizce, 10/10 ?
