Fetih 1453

On a day like this, on the morning of May 29 the city of Kostantiniye (Istanbul) was literary opened by Mehmet Fetih. Proofing the prophecy in the Hadis mentioned by Prophet Muhammad may peace be upon him " “Kostantiniye (İstanbul) muhakkak fethedilecektir.Onu fetheden emir ne güzel emir; onu fetheden ordu ne güzel ordudur.”Hz. Muhammed (S.A.V). Yet few months back, a spectacular film was released in the Turkish movies, "Fetih 1453" marking the epic life and achievement of the young warrior, Mehmet Fetih. directed by Faruk Aksoy and written by Irfan Saruhan, which is indeed a must see!

Today the 19th of May marks the commemoration of Atatürk youth and sports day ( anma ve gençlik ve spor bayramı ). Hence, today is an official national holiday everywhere in Turkey ( resmi ulusal tatil ). On this day the youth are reminded with the importance of taking care of ones welfare, practicing sports, learning and sharing knowledge, and the value of democracy.
